How to Dry Your Hair Without Damaging it

6 tips for hair drying without damaging it

Always wanted to know how to dry your hair fast without damaging it too much? Keep reading for our tips and say goodbye to breakage and dull hair! The right tools and the right technique can reduce frizzy or fragile hair. Here are six tips on drying your hair without damaging it, mix and match them to fit your personal hair care routine.

1.       Prepare your hair before using a blow dryer

First let your hair air dry for a bit. Dripping wet hair is more likely to frizz under the sudden heat from a blow dryer. When short on time, gently towel dry hair to speed up the process before using it. Be gently with towel drying your hair to prevent pulling out strands or damaging the shafts. When you have time, try air drying at least fifteen minutes before blow drying hair after using a towel. This way you give your hair time to dry a bit naturally before applying heat.

2.       Use products to protect your hair

To protect your hair from being overly exposed to heat, it’s good to use a protective spray or oil that protect your hair against heat and that reduces frizz. Weekly deep conditioning treatments also help protect your hair!

3.       Avoid the high heat setting on your heat tools

When short on time, it seems to be the obvious lifesaver to set your dryer on its highest heat setting. But really, avoid using this setting. When using this as your go-to solution for rushed mornings, the damage will build up. To keep your hair healthy, use the lowest (or at least a lower) setting. Otherwise, it’s very easy to ‘over-dry’ your hair and cause irreversible damage.

4.       Dry your hair in sections

Same as with straightening your hair, it’s also important to divide your hair into sections when drying. Start at the neckline and take smaller parts of hair from the section to dry. Move the hairdryer in a sweeping motion to prevent over drying (and heating) particular parts.

5.       Use the right hairdryer tools

Every tool has its own specifications and features. That’s why it’s important not to use attachments that did not come with the blow dryer you’re using.

Even more importantly, use the right blow dryer. Our favorite hair dryer is the SilkyAir Pro which works wonders to prevent hair damage and keeps your hair healthy. It’s a salon quality hair dryer designed to minimize the risk of heat damage. Experience the multiple benefits of its Premium Water Ion technology that ensures less frizz and smoother hair.

6.       Dry your hair completely

Once you start blow-drying your hair you must complete it. If your hair looks flat and frizzy it’s because the hair dryer did not remove all the extra moisture. Take those extra minutes to dry your hair until it is room temperature for the best results. Our tip: dividing your hair in smaller section can speed up this routine!
